Rémi Sassine is an arbitration associate at Vanguard International Dispute Resolution.
His practice focuses on commercial and investment arbitration under major institutional rules (including the ICC, LCIA, DIAC and ICSID), annulment and enforcement proceedings, as well as international litigation. He advises private companies, States and State-owned entities in disputes arising in a diverse range of jurisdictions, particularly Europe, the Middle East and Africa. His practice covers a wide range of industries, with a focus on construction, energy and commodity-related disputes. Rémi has also served as Secretary to the Tribunal in a number of arbitrations.
Prior to joining Vanguard International Dispute Resolution, Rémi practiced as an associate for five years in an international law firm in Paris. He also gained experience as a trainee in leading arbitration firms in Paris and Beirut.

- Representing a European government in an ICC arbitration against various European and US entities of an international company arising out of a concession agreement in the healthcare sector.
- Representing a French tech company in an ad hoc arbitration against a French conglomerate arising out of a license and know-how agreement.
- Representing a Jordanian company in an ICC arbitration against an Italian company arising out of a commercial agreement in the commodities sector.
- Representing an international commodities company in an ICC mediation and arbitration against a European steel company arising out of the termination of a supply agreement.
- Representing a south-east Asian State-owned company in an ICC arbitration against a European contractor arising out of the construction of electricity transmission lines.
- Representing a French construction company in an ICC mediation against a French project company arising out of an engineering, procurement, construction and installation contract for a floating wind farm in Europe.
- Representing an American investor against a South American State in an ICSID arbitration over the construction and implementation of a car park.
- Representing an African State in ICSID annulment proceedings arising out of the restructuring of a commercial bank.
Experience in arbitration related proceedings
- Representing an African state-owned company against an Indian construction company in set-aside proceedings before the French Courts (Paris Court of Appeal and French Supreme Court).
- Representing a Spanish natural resources company in enforcement proceedings in North Africa.
- Representing a state in set aside proceedings before the Paris Court of Appeal involving issues related to international sanctions and public international law.
- Experience as Secretary to the Tribunal
- Secretary in an ICC Emergency Arbitration arising out of a mining project in sub-Saharan Africa.
- Secretary to the Tribunal in an ICC post M&A arbitration in the financial sector.
- Secretary to the Tribunal in an ICC arbitration arising out of an offshore oil and gas project in sub-Saharan Africa.
- Secretary to the Tribunal in an ad hoc arbitration in the real-estate sector in Africa.
